Hemeras Light - Collier by EiljaGorgor Hemeras Light - Collier by EiljaGorgor
Hemera was a primordial goddess and the female embodiment of daylight. Hemera was created with much love by Erebos, the symbol of Darkness and Nyx, the night, both children of Chaos.

Hemera's sister was Aether, the goddess of the Heaven. Hemera was residing with her mother in Tartarus, in the depths of the Underworld, but the two deities never met each other at home.

Shortly after the break of day, Hemera was making a journey from the land of the dawn to the land of the heavens, gradually taking the place of Eos, the goddess of the dawn. Upon arrival, Helios, the sun god, hid himself in his golden cup and night fell upon the earth, and Hemera returned to her home in the Underworld. That was the moment when her mother Nyx would start her nightly journey.

Done with silverplated and sterling silver wire, turquoise seed beads, swarovsky styled beads and a swarovsky drop bead with a finding of tibetian silver. I did not count the hours, but I'me quite happy with the result. (Custom Order for a work colleague). What do you think ?

Haha I am extremely picky on the jewelry I wear.. this is definitely my style. I appreciate the the wire design and simple colors. It's complicated to look at, but just complicated enough. Very very nice.
Good work! (Your colleague must be more than impressed)

Wow! I think this is very beautiful! I know it took you hours to do. I wouldn't be surprised it took you days. Alot goes in planning alone.

I love the design and I especially was attracted to the blue you used to confect this piece.

Awww, thank you!
And yes you are right about the time i spent to finish it. ( From scratch to the finished piece it took me about 4 weeks, because i could just work for 1 or 2 hours each day).

I have a necklace that took me two months to create and 5 days to put together. And, to add to that, I had to deviate many times from the original design I had because the original wasn't working out the way I had envisioned it. I guess it's part of the profession. At the same time, the challenge of it is what makes it fun to do.

Maybe not as much as you suspect *grin* if you want to know more about the pricing of such a unique piece of jewelry, feel free to send me a Note or an E-Mail. It really depends on the used material and the design itself.

Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous. It actually looks like it's glowing. I can really see how the inspiration of daylight was woven into the piece; the whole thing just looks really bright. Wow. Wow. :) Amazing job! Congrats on the DD and thank you for the tidbit of Greek mythology! I love Greek mythology.

It doesn't look like Greek inspired, though, does it? It reminds me of Egypt or Indian art. It looks South American, too.

It's a great piece! I love it!

Hmm, now that you mention it, I can see parts of those in the piece, too. I guess that fits, because daylight is everywhere! :)

I know! It's so awesome.

I would love to do a piece like this someday.
And honestly, with it being silver, I would wear it myself...and I'm not one to wear jewelry.

Seconded! I wish I knew how to do jewelry. xD
Put it on the list of Things To Learn...

Definitely. If I had this, I would wear it all day. Every day. With anything. 8D

The first time I tried it, it was just with some ribbon and acrylic beads. I actually sold those for not a bad profit. I saw that I liked doing it that I wanted to try more advance stuff. So, I paid for my first basic class. The rest I've learned from books I've bought. Of course, if there's a certain technique I want to learn, then I'll take a class if I need to. But most of it has been me observing books. I actually enjoy doing jewelry. It's very therapeutic. ^___^ What do you do?

Awesome! It's so cool that you've found something you really like to do. And, from what I've seen, you do it very well! :D

Books are awesome. You can get almost any information you need for crafting, and read them on your own time, too. :)

Thanks for asking! I sculpt and draw, myself. As far as sculpture goes, I usually make clay mythical animals (mostly dragons :)), but I've been trying to branch out. I draw animals a lot, and I'm learning how to do people now too. I agree about art being therapeutic; it's a great way to relax and improve.
